Attempts at Inflation in String Theory
Sandip Trivedi (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research)

Warped compactifications, obtained by turning on fluxes, provide a promising setting for inflation in string theory. The details of moduli stabilisation are important, however. Superpotential stabilisation of the volume modulus typically renders the inflaton potential too steep. A sufficiently non-generic superpotential, or perhaps other mechanisms of stabilisation, might avoid this conclusion.
