We investigate a two-species Fermi gas in mixed dimensions where one species is confined in a 2D plane or 1D line and interacts with the
other species in the 3D space. Here the interspecies interaction is
characterized by a single parameter, the effective scattering length,
whose value is arbitrarily tunable in cold atom experiments. We
discuss that such novel systems can be used to realize many
interesting physics such as the p-wave superfluidity in two
dimensions, stable trimer Fermi gas, and confinement-induced Efimov
effect in fermions.
