Stabilizing Carrier-Envelope Phase of High Energy CPA Systems for Attosecond Research
Prof. Zenghu Chang, Kansas State University & KITP

So far, most of the attosecond experiments have been done using CPA lasers with prism-based compressors. CPA systems with grating based stretchers and compressors can produces pulses with much higher energy. We demonstrated a novel method for the stabilization and fine control of the carrier-envelope phase of amplified pulses from such lasers. The phase can be stabilized to <170 mrad for more than 20 minutes. The effects of the carrier-envelope phase on the generation of attosecond xuv supercontinuum were investigated by a polarization gating of high harmonic generation.
